Rock of the Month: Jade
As the first featured Rock of the Month, I have selected my favorite stone to design with. Most people associate Jade only with the translucent emerald-colored Imperial Jade of China. While this tends to be the most valued color of the stone, Jade comes in a lovely palette of colors, including cream, gold, brown, violet, as well as a variety of shades of green.
In China, Jade has been treasured as a symbol of heaven and power. Carved jade animals were used in worship in ancient China, and for many years only aristocrats were permitted to wear the stone. Jade was also mined in Central America, where it was highly valued and used by the Mayans and Aztecs in carvings and masks. Today, the warm palette of colors makes jade a delightful stone to wear year-round, looking lovely with khaki and camel-colored materials. If you would like to be eligible to receive free rock of the month earings from The Kitschen, subscribe to our mailing list for a coupon code each month! Shop the necklaces for jade and new designs or buy jade earrings! 5:28 PM 0 comments |
