Most people associate Jade only with the translucent emerald-colored Imperial Jade of China. While this tends to be the most valued color of the stone, Jade comes in a lovely palette of colors, including cream, gold, brown, violet, as well as a variety of shades of green.<br /><br />In China, Jade has been treasured as a symbol of heaven and power. Carved jade animals were used in worship in ancient China, and for many years only aristocrats were permitted to wear the stone.
